All about Mikel

This past year Mikel has been doing many competitions and things in piano. She participated in Marathon Day, wrote a song, played at Cavalcade, and she competed at an Achievement Day. Marathon day is at the mall and she had to play a song as part of the 4 events she has to do every year. She wrote a song called "Something Random" and performed it at a church to receive a trophy. She also participated in Cavalcade which is where you have to play a duet with other students. She received a ribbon for this and for Marathon Day. And last, she competed in Achievement Day. Many piano students went to MCC and they had to do different things. Mikel had to memorize three pieces, take a theory and technique test, sight read a song, and also take an ear training test. The students have to pass 4/5 of these to receive a trophy, and Mikel did!!! Now she is starting the year all over again. Mikel also plays the flute and this year she will be in concert band, the highest band at Poston Jr. High.

Mikel likes to play piano, play Call of Duty 4 with Thomas, read Eclipse, hang out with her siblings, chat with her friends, and goof off with people. Mikel's favorite dessert is rocky road ice cream, and her favorite dinner is Fajitas.

All about Emma

Emma is 4 years old right now. She has had a rough year in primary. She is in the 5 year old class at church and still does not like to go. This should end shortly after starting nursery at 18 months. We did have her going into nursery by herself by the time she was 3 but then it was off to primary with the big kids. Mom had been called to serve in the primary presidency about 4 months prior so when Emma came into primary and saw Mommy working in there she decided she did not want to go to class any more she would rather "help" Mommy. We have made a little progress recently however. She will go to class as long as Daddy stays out in the hall.

One thing that Emma really enjoys if finding Uncle Bill at church and going up to him to give him a big hug. She loves when Uncle Bill comes over to visit or eat dinner with us! She loves her Uncle Bill!!

Emma loves to dance, sing, play Barbie, dress dolls, play house & go swimming. She enjoys hanging out with her sisters and listening to their music. Her favorite thing to eat is chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Her favorite dinner is Japanese food. But her most FAVORITE thing to do is snuggle with Daddy!!

Here is Emma picking on poor Daddy while he is trying to catch a nap!

All about Thomas

Thomas is 7 years old. Thomas likes to play war games. He plays with his soldier action figures outside in a pit that is about 4 feet deep that the boys use for their war games. Thomas got his first air soft gun this year so he could join Andrew and his buddies as they air soft war. Thomas really looks up to his big brother Andrew.

At school Thomas is the class clown. He spends a little too much time trying to make the girls laugh and not enough time listening to his teacher. He also plays soccer with his friends.

Thomas started piano lessons this summer. He actually enjoys playing.

Thomas is really excited to show where he banged his head and bled for a really long time.

Thomas likes to watch Tom and Jerry cartoons on TV & finding different ways to annoy Andrew. Thomas favorite dessert is mint ice cream. Thomas favorite dinner is homemade pizza with pineapple and ham. He loves ramen.

All about Sarah

Sarah tried her hand at piano. She decided that she didn't like it as well as she thought she would and tried dance instead. She loves it!! She chose to do clogging. She practiced really hard all year. At the end of the school year her dance class was entered into a competition where they they did very well. The night of the dance recital was very exciting! Sarah was very nervous. During one part of the dance her partner had to pull Sarah through her legs. Sarah was afraid her partner would not grab her hands and be able to pull her through on time which would throw the dance off. Her group did very well and we are very proud of her accomplishments.
Sarah is the last dancer on the right.

Sarah is the one in the yellow outfit.

Sarah loves her stuffed doggy cookie. She also clogs everywhere she goes. Grampa says she just can not walk with out clogging! She likes to cook and is learning to bake bread this summer. She likes to swim and has the tan to prove it! Her favorite dessert is hot fudge on ice cream and brownies. Her favorite dinner is pizza.

All about Andrew

This year Andrew was involved in the Air Force R.O.T.C. program at Westwood High School. He was involved in many community service projects, training, and was on the drill team. Needless to say he was kept extremely busy this year. These pics were taken the night of his awards ceremony at the end of the school year. Andrew went hoping to get another rank advancement that he had tested for. Not only did he get his rank advancement but also received many other awards for his accomplishments this year. He was one of the most recognized cadets in his class! He received a letter for drill team, his rank advancement to sergeant, a dress and appearance ribbon, and a leadership ribbon for all his leadership roles that he took on this year. Serving in quorum presidencies definitely prepared him to take on leadership roles.

This year he applied to attend a leadership training program on an Air Force base. He was accepted!! He put together an exercise group to train for the rigorous requirements of this leadership program. Every day he would wake up at 5:00am, dress, eat a tone of carbs and arrive on the track with his fellow cadets to lead them in physical training exercises. It worked well and they were all excepted on the elite team at the training camp.

While at "SLS" they got to stay in barracks, eat K rations. He said the food was excellent. They did an escape and evasion exercise where they take the cadets and drop them in a random place in the woods. Then the cadets must find their way back to the camp. During this they have to evade the instructors who are out trying to find the cadets. He was able to do rock climbing, and they played capture the flag. They were required to build their own shelters in the woods and live in them for 4 days and 3 nights. During this time they ate K rations. He actually likes K rations. YUK!

Andrew likes to do things with his little brother Thomas.

Andrew likes to hang with friends, eat, chat on the computer with friends, eat, cook ramen, eat, run, eat, drink gallons of soda daily, eat, exercise, eat, drive, and last but not least eat. Andrew's favorite dessert is mint icecream. His favorite dinner is homeade pizza with lots of veggies.

Our family activities this year

In January 2008 we took our annual snow trip. Dad brought a heater to warm our hands after playing in the snow since we have no gloves this year. As usual we played in the snow and we all agreed that the snow is fun to look at and play in a little bit but visiting the snow once a year is enough for this family.
